Creative Adventure Downunder Tutors

Vicki Boutin

Creatively I aspire to find time to play everyday. There are no limitations on what I can create because I believe that there are no rules when it comes to crafting. I play with paper, mixed media, altered art, cardmaking, stamping...really I will try anything if it inspires me. The only common threads are the use of colour and the act of getting my fingers dirty in the process! I literally like to mix the media!! Layers and layers of inks, paints, stencils and stamps with a sprinkle of something shiny all culminating to create what I like to call ECLECTIC FUNK. If it has layers, lots of colour and it was fun to make then that's where you will find me.

I take this bag of tricks and teach people worldwide to blend art mediums into their established crafts. I think it is a great way to introduce crafters to the world of mixed media. Just build your art one layer at a time. It doesn't matter what a person's skill level is or if they are a scrapbooker, card maker, planner junkie or a full on mixed media aficionado. It's all about "Art EVERYDAY"! I believe if you just break it down, make it fun, provide the tools then anyone can find success in their creativity and explore their inner artist.

So, if you share these same interests I think we will get along smashingly!  I am so excited to be returning back to CAD and I look forward to seeing you in my classes where we will explore a ton of techniques, use some great new products and have fun! Because after all my friends, that is what it's all about!

Michelle Van Oudtshoorn

Hello, my name is Michelle. I currently live in Rolleston, just outside Christchurch, married for 28 years with a 25 year old son (who hates his photo taken) and 22 year old daughter (who I am always scrapbooking, as she loves the camera). I was born and raised in South Africa, and we moved to New Zealand in 2010. What a wonderful country New Zealand is!

I have been scrapbooking for about 15 or so years. This craft was introduced to me by one of neighbours who decided to open a scrapbooking business from her home and invited me to come along to a class to see if I might like it. Well, there was no looking back and here I am today still loving every bit of it!

Currently I am on the design team for 2 challenge sites, White with 1 and Sketchabilities. I am on the design team for Embellish It, a scrapbooking store down in Timaru. Recently, I have also had the honour of being selected on the design team for Dusty Attic for 2019.

My go to with scrapbooking, is usually flowers and fussy cutting – mixed in with some inks, texture pastes and chipboard. I generally do layouts, and also enjoy doing mini albums. I am known as the flower queen among my friends and whenever I bring along my gear to crop, I bring my flower tower (as they call it!) – 14 containers all stacked together with a handle – and all colour co-ordinated. I am not always about the flowers – I also love cogs and clocks, and I could say I have a fair stash of these amongst my supplies.

I am very excited about coming to teach at CAD in August 2019. I saw the last video Michele posted up on the FB page, and it looked so much fun was had by everyone. That’s what this wonderful craft is all about – having fun and making gorgeous new friends along the way. Looking forward to seeing you all!
